Maternity photography, part 2!
It seems there has been quite a few ‘Part 2s’ around here lately, why mess up the vibe by calling this blog something else?
So a few month’s back I did a photo shoot with some friends who were having a baby, well long story short the baby’s been born and we had a follow up shoot. Finally, my fault entirely, I’ve finished editing up their photos so I figured I would post a load here for you to peruse.
Mathew Packer Photography update
Over the weekend, between scanning film, I also managed to get a load of updates done on my Mathew Packer Photography website.
About a month or so ago I scrapped the Wordpress installation in favour of Pixel Post which I found a lot easier to use just as a photography website, I didn’t want to blog with it or anything else like that. So finally after just using one of the default themes for the past month I finally pulled my finger out and customised it to display what I wanted.
As you can see from the above screen capture I wanted to display a single photo on the front page, and I didn’t want to stuff around with fancy graphics and logos, I wanted the photos to speak for themselves. I think I’ve achieved that.
While you can click on the photo on the front page and begin to move backwards through my archive, based on date uploaded, you can also ‘Browse By Genre’ which gives you the following display with a drop down menu.
And last but not least is the Biography page, there’s not a lot of information on there at the moment but I’ll have it completed tonight or tomorrow, and if time allows I’ll even throw up a mug shot of myself on there.
So as you can see, it’s a very simple setup with a really simple interface, but I feel like it represents my photography in a much better light than previously.

I’m With The Band - header & background
Last week I re-did the I’m With The Band theme as we just partnered up with the local street press Reverb and needed to setup an area on the front page where people could download the latest edition of Reverb. When I did this theme change I had to mockup a quick header logo until I had the time to sit down and make a new logo / header.
The other thing we want to change up the I’m With The Band website is the colour scheme and the background as well. I’ve spent several hours on the Colour Lovers website checking out various colour palettes to try and get some inspiration, so far I’ve narrowed it down to about 10 different schemes…..arrghh. I think once I have the header logo design completed it might be a little easier to lock the colour scheme down.
Here’s a few websites that I find invaluable when it comes to colour scheming, web designs, logos and headers;
> Colour Lovers - a big database of user submitted colour combinations
> Vecteezy - user submitted vectors, free to download
> Brusheezy - Vecteezy’s sister site for photoshop and illustrator brushes
> Faveup - a gallery of cool website designs, logo designs, and flash designs
> CSS Tux - similar to Faveup, but dedicated to CSS designed websites
> iStockPhoto - a stock photo, vector, flash, and video website where you can buy different elements to construct your design
Anyway, I better actually get to work on this header / logo design instead of just sitting here talking about it. I’ll keep you posted on the I’m With The Band project as it progresses.
