Links Matt Thinks You Should Check Out

in Home Life

It’s another lazy evening in Newcastle Australia and at this stage it looks likely that we’re staying in. My ‘Christmas Cold’ is still hanging around and it’s a little windy and rainy here so it’s probably a good thing that there’s not a lot happening music / band wise in Newcastle tonight, well nothing that I’m that into anyway.

Today was a reasonably quiet, but busy, day. I had to go over to the RTA and get a new license seeing as I lost my wallet yesterday, feed my parent’s dogs as they were away overnight, and that was about it for things I HAD to do.

  • Skellie, of Skelliewag fame, had a couple of guest posts on Problogger this week and a link from one of her articles really grabbed my attention it pointed over to Zen Habits and in particular to this post – A Guide To Creating A Minimalist Home. Anyway to cut a long story short I spent today rearranging furniture and decor after being inspired by that article.
  • The other thing I tried to do yesterday, which probably is how I lost my wallet, was to do a little DIY work at home. I’m putting in picture rails in all the rooms, and I’m also looking to build a little hall / entry table. I saw this article on the DIY Network which is pretty spot on how I want the hall / entry table to look like. There’s lots of other great DIY things on the DIY Network website for anyone interested in ‘having a go’
  • If you’ve been following my blog much lately you’ll know that I’ve started playing golf, anyway I’ve been checking out loads and loads of ‘golf tips’ website but never found anything that ACTUALLY worked for me, till I found Golf Support. They’ve got tips on improving your swing technique and increasing your driving distance, through to putting and chipping help. It’s helped my game dramatically.
  • Copyblogger had an interesting article this week called If Content is the New Advertising, What Does Your Advertising Say About You, in a nutshell it gives advice on how to improve the way you’re writing your content so that it attracts more attention to your advertising which in turn should generate more revenue.
  • Meg over at Blogpond is celebrating the 1st birthday / anniversary of starting the Blogpond blog, she briefly talks about some of her achievements this year. One of the big things Meg has done this year is establish the Top 100 Australian Blogs Index which is a fantastic list of Australian bloggers, all of which have plenty of interesting things to say. Definitely worth bookmarking!

Anyway, I’ll leave you with those few links to check out and have a good night, or day for you US folks.

Cheers Matt
