Ok, I’ve fallen in love with BoB. BoB is the new Belkin VOIP phone come wifi dsl router that iinet is currently promoting.
Anyway, I sent off a contact form on iinet’s website asking about it and seeing if it was possible to churn from our current Optus dsl over to iinet. Last night I got the following reply back from a customer service person at iiNet.
Can you spot the typo?
Hello Mat
Thank you for your email.
We appreciate you showing interest in our products. I have taken time to go through the details to check if the number you supplied qualifies for the the Ndsl ( BoB ) service and with regard to the line that you are having at your penises we are unable to provide the Ndsl service to you , however we do have other options available for you but i wil need to notify you that ywe will not be able to run the ohter form on Adsl on an optus line as we only work with a telstra line.
If you could kindly give us a cal so we can be able to discuss as to what we can be able to offer you.
For more information on our product please visit our website: www.iinet.net.au or contact us on 13 22 58.
Kind regards,
So, I guess that the line at my penises may need to be looked at…..anyone?

That has been an ongoing joke in here, the person was meant to type premises
Thanks for bringing this to our attention – I think there’s one word we can have safely removed from the automatic spell checker!
As to your query – if your telephone line is a Telstra resold line a changeover should be possible. However, if it’s Optus owned it’ll need to be churned back onto the Telstra network prior to coming over to us.
Feel free to fire me an email if you’ve got any questions.
Hey Matt
Yep it is a changeover from an Optus line to a Telstra line. I do still want to do it but the problem is that I’ve been told it can take up to 30 days for it to all go through, despite the fact that all that needs to happen is a jumper lead is moved from one router to another (got a mate who works at Telstra, and knows our local exchange well).
The prospect of not having dsl for up to 30 days is just not something I can work with. If it was closer to 1-2 days then yeh I would churn in a minute, but considering there’s a grand total of 5 minutes work that can take up to 30 days is a joke on Telstra’s behalf.
Certainly something we’d like to see improved ourselves. I couldn’t live without the internet for that long.
I like to think that as a company that does have a strong focus on customer service (I struggle to think of a department at iiNet that does not have some portion of its at-risk bonus component riding on our Net Promoter Score) that making it easier to change providers is only going to be a boon for iiNet in the long run.
There’s always pressure from the industry as a whole to see this happen, but at this stage sadly it’s a case of “wait and see”. (or wait until you relocate!)
Well with 28 more years left on the mortgage I don’t think we’re going anywhere any time soon. We’ll be doing some holidaying in the middle of next year, so I think I might give it a look in then.
