audioBoo

Ever wanted to start recording your own podcasts but didn’t want to invest in a load of recording and production equipment, don’t really have a huge amount of time to sit down and script out an entire ’show’, and weren’t really sure how to get it listed on iTunes (or other podcast networks)…then audioBoo might just be for you!

Check it out….

What is audioBoo?

audioBoo is basically a social network of podcasters, it’s kind of an audio version of twitter. Once you have an account, and either an iPhone or one of the other compatible phones, you can start recording and uploading Boos. One your Boo is uploaded it’ll appear in the ‘Recent Boos’ list on the homepage of audioBoo, and yes you’re right it’s not the prettiest homepage on the planet and the audioBoo team freely admit that;

Welcome to audioboo on the web. We know this site is a bit scrappy but bear with us as we find some time to make it pretty.

There’s an app for that!

The iPhone audioBoo application is pretty sweet and simple. Once logged in there’s a ‘Recent Boos’ list where you can pick and choose Boos to listen to, there’s a Record screen, and that’s about it.

When you’re recording the interface gives you an idea of the volume level you’re speaking at, this is quite handy to see as it’ll make it easy for you to keep your volume at a near constant and therefore easier to listen to.

When you’re ready to upload your newly recorded Boo you’re given the opportunity to name your Boo, tag your Boo, and even add an image to your Boo….. *hrmm that was a whole lot of Boo there

Subscribe, download, and embed

Every account on audioBoo has a unique Atom feed which can be subscribed to in iTunes, or your podcatcher of choice, making it simple to download and keep all of your Boos. It’s also handy for when you find other people you’d like to subscribe to as audioBoo gives you an ‘all in one’ podcast feed for the people you follow.

If you’ve got your own blog or website, audioBoo gives you a handy little ‘embed’ code that so you can add an audio player of each of your Boos to the accompanying blog post (I’m assuming you’re going to blog that you just Bood).

And what sort of website / social network would it be if there wasn’t a way to connect your audioBoo account to your Facebook account….. So yeh, they’ve already done that and whenever you publish a new Boo it’ll be linked to your Facebook wall / updates.

Too Boo or not to Boo

audioBoo is a nice, simple, easy to use, service for those of us who’d like to try our hands at podcasting. It’s definitely worth checking out. If you decide to join audioBoo, follow me here >> matpacker
