Actually Black Friday refers to the Friday following Thanksgiving in the US. Generally sales start early in the morning and are the last big stock clearance / discount before Christmas.

In Australia some American based companies do similar sales here, Apple being one of those companies.

The discounts on Apple products are small compared to what some companies in the US are doing, but considering Apple pretty well never discounts it's still quite tempting to purchase something....

Stand by... I'm confused. This is obviously US 'black Friday' not Australia, right? Cos we've had no Friday 13 recently, nor do we have one coming.
So what date does this actually take place for Australia?

Apparently, non Apple US stores are preempting these massive discounts by offering these discounts:

http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/11/25/apple_authorized_resellers_launch_black_friday_sales_early.html

roughly applied here, i wouldn't hold my breath. It may be around $20-$30 more than the education discount. which is disappointing given the rumor.
