Friday is link day – May 29th

by Mat on May 29, 2009

Ok so last week you might remember me writing…

I promise next week that I’ll be more organised and wont have to rush it out….yeh right.

Well, guess what…..this week once again will be a rushed out list and it’s all because I’m still ridiculously busy. Work is just nuts at the moment, seems we’ve got a product that’s being received in the market place so well that it’s almost bordering on ‘killer app’ status. I’m slightly shocked at how well it’s being received, but of course we’re definitely not complaining about it.

So yep, back to the rushed out links of the week, we’ve got a pretty eclectic one this week with a mix of design, ethics, medical, and a little bit of humour. [click to continue…]

Australia’s finest proponent of indie, folk rock & alt acoustic pop, Melbourne’s Skipping Girl Vinegar have just announced their national “Music From Cold Places” Tour. Hitting the road this winter, the “Music From Cold Places” Tour references Skipping Girl Vinegar’s beautifully crafted debut album Sift The Noise and it’s genesis over 4 years ” from Melbourne’s winter of 2005, to its conclusion on a still snow filled day in Nashville 2008″.

Two tracks from the album (‘One Chance’ and title track ‘Sift The Noise’) both received strong triple J rotation. The latter, still a current fixture on triple J playlists, has also been added to ABC local radio rotation (65+ stations nationwide) and is currently being used in a national 10 week campaign on SBS TV. The SBS promotion uses 2 minutes of the track as the soundtrack to a teaser for their upcoming programs and run’s on SBS prime time for the next 2.5 months. [click to continue…]

Thai Pork and Coriander Balls recipe

by Mat on May 27, 2009

This is a recipe I was playing around with one Saturday afternoon, I had a craving for something snacky, but also something ‘Asian’ in influence. I raided the fridge and pantry, but didn’t have much in the way of ingredients to choose from….so I came up with these, Thai Pork and Coriander Balls. [click to continue…]

Vaudeville, on tour this June!

by Mat on May 27, 2009

2008 was a massive year for the Novocastrian rock outfit Vaudeville. Notable accomplishments include the release of their self-titled EP, Triple J airplay and support slots with several distinguished Australian bands – The Butterfly Effect, Grinspoon, Birds of Tokyo, Cog, and The Dirty Secrets. Vaudeville has earned themselves the reputation of one of the hardest working bands around. This comes as a result of relentless touring of Australia’s East Coast, clocking up over 70 gigs since their formation. [click to continue…]

I swear this will be my last Thesis related blog for a while, or maybe just today.

A couple of days ago I decided that I needed to revamp the I’m With The Band website. The stats had been sliding downward, less subscribers, less visits, etc. and the overall feeling and appeal of the site was just lacking. The content provided by Reverb Magazine is solid, combined with all the press releases that we receive, so there was no dramas there. The design sucked. [click to continue…]
