Dieting is so Lite n Easy!
Over the last 18 months or so I’ve put on a few kilos, pounds for you Americans, about 25kgs (55lbs) to be precise. When you’re 168cm (5′6″) tall putting on 25kg is like over 25% of you’re ideal weight so we’re talking a big increase!
Apart from the obvious health concerns, heart disease and diabetes to name a couple, there’s also the fact that I’m getting married in August and I’d like to be looking pretty hot for my wife to-be. So I’ve decided it’s a good time to get motivated and ’shed those unwanted kilos’.
So here’s a bit of back story which should catch you all up to where I’m at now, and why I’ve chosen to diet with Lite n Easy.
About 3 years ago I was going out photographing bands 3-4 nights a week, I was eating kebabs and pizzas, I was drinking 2-3 beers a night, I was stacking the weight on like a famine was coming. Around Christmas that year I hopped on the scales and nearly died when I looked down at the measurement, 104kgs!! No kidding! I couldn’t believe it! Anyway, after catching up with a mate in Brisbane and realising I really needed to do something about my weight I decided to give Lite n Easy a call (13 15 12).
After a telephone consultation with one of Lite n Easy’s nutrition consultants I decided to go on the 1500 calories a day plan. A couple of days later there was an esky full of food on my doorstep.
Everything in the esky is separated into each days food allowance, you have your breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner all ready to go for the following 7 days. Apart from the initial week’s selection of your breakfast, lunch and snacks, you have an extensive list of about 45 dinners to choose from. They’ve got everything from Roast Beef through to Thai Green Curry, they also have quite a good selection of vegetarian meals, so you probably have a wider range of selection than what you would normally cook yourself….unless you’re Gordon Ramsey or some other celebritiy chef.
The reason this diet works for me is that EVERYTHING is done for you, there’s no stuffing around and organising all your own meals, or keeping a book and diary on you for counting points, there’s no pills, potions or milkshakes, all you have to do is eat the food that you’ve been allocated for that day. It couldn’t get any simpler, and therefore it works.
Another reason it works is that the average male burns around 3,000 calories per day pretty well doing nothing at all, if you’re on a 1,500 calorie per day diet then you’re already losing weight as your body needs to ‘eat’ your stored fat cells. It’s not rocket science at all, eat less calories than you’re burning and you lose weight.
Anyway, I guess the proof will be in the pudding so I shall leave you with this photo of my that Cath took just after Christmas last year (2007), you can clearly see that I’m sporting a few extra pounds in it. I’ll make sure I get an update photo about a month in so we can see how my progress is coming along.
