I’ve made a blog, now what?

blog-networkOne thing that I had discovered is that it’s quite easy to get a blog up and running, it’s quite easy to bring in regular traffic, it’s quite easy to write content and keep things fresh, BUT it’s not that easy to make money out of it.

Since I started taking my blog seriously and have been writing on a daily basis my traffic has increased from around 100 unique visitors (300 page views) per week to more than 2000 unique visitors (10,000 page views) per week. That’s a fairly decent traffic increase, but did it also mean an increase in revenue?

No, not really.

So what’s the secret, how do you make good income from your blog….and I’m not talking about making $50 a month or anything like that. How do you, a small startup blogger, make some serious coin from writing some opinion pieces on the internet?

At this stage I do not have the exact answer, however I do have some ideas that I’m putting into action to see if they work. I cant give you all the details at this stage however it revolves around running a network of blogs, as opposed to a singular blog.

So how is network blogging likely to improve your income?

Basically you’re increasing your exposure on the internet and giving yourself more ‘backlinks’ and more ‘reach’ which in turn should enable you to leverage your blogs against each other which will allow you to serve more relevant advertising to each of your blogs, assuming they’re niche enough, which should then actually increase your revenue.

Will this work? I’d like to think it will, and I’d like to think it will happen reasonably quickly. Anecdotal evidence suggests that it’s a step in the right direction, but I guess I’ll need to wait and see.

As of right now the Packer Media Group is up and running, though there is little content added to the PMG blog, and the list of blogs currently being published as part of this group is;

Shortly there will be a few other blogs that will be added to the above.

Once it’s been up and running successfully I will open it up to other bloggers so that they can leverage the potential from the network. Apart from the obvious link benefits, blogs will also be able to sign up at the same affiliate level so that they get the benefits from the hard work that’s already been done building an affiliate network. There’s a number of other benefits as well that I’ll get into at a later date.

For now it’s full steam ahead building up the blogs!
